For more than 25 years, the Remembrance Tree Ceremony has given the community a chance to remember loved ones during the holiday season. On average, about 300 people gather each year for what has become a beloved family tradition.
Due to the ongoing concerns surrounding COVID-19, we will hold the 2021 Remembrance Tree Ceremony as a live, virtual event on Sunday, December 5, at 2 p.m. via Facebook Live on the Hospice Care Plus Facebook page.*
As always, the ceremony will include special readings, music, and the reading of your love one's names. Anyone who misses a loved one during the holidays is welcome to participate, regardless of whether your loved one was cared for by our hospice.
This year, we're excited to add a new element to the ceremony by including a photo slideshow of your loved ones. Participation in the photo slideshow is optional. To include a photo of your loved one in the slideshow, please submit a digital copy of the photo, along with their full name, to hospice@hospicecp.org no later than Nov. 30.
When you request an ornament, it will be personalized with your loved one's name and you will have an opportunity to pick up the ornament at a designated time and location following the ceremony. Reserving an ornament also ensures that your loved one's name will be read during the ceremony.
We ask that you make a donation to request an ornament, but the donation can be of any size.** All proceeds support the cost of the 2021 ornaments and any excess will fund hospice, palliative, and bereavement care for patients and families, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.
*You do not need a Facebook account to view the ceremony. However, if you wish to interact by using the comments section to type your loved one's name as it is read, or to share a favorite memory, you will need to have a Facebook account.
**Many families' incomes have been adversely affected by COVID-19. If you wish to request an ornament, but making a donation of any size is a barrier for you, please contact us at 859-986-1500 during normal business hours.
Your donation is tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
We appreciate your generous support and your participation in the 2021 Remembrance Tree Ceremony. Please check your email for confirmation of your gift and additional information about the event.
